You can easily reach BASE with the scenic gondola, which runs directly from the lower stations in Ruka Village and Ruka Valley to the top of Saarua. A ride on the gondola is free with a valid ski lift pass. However, if you don’t have an active Ruka lift pass, you can purchase a single ticket for the gondola from the ticket machines or at the ticket sales points during their opening hours. You will need a round-trip ticket if you plan to make your return journey from BASE by gondola as well.

Please note that the gondola may be closed for safety reasons during strong winds. In such cases, access to BASE will be via the Saarua Express lift until 7:00 PM and on Fridays during night skiing until 11 PM.  

Exit must be made on foot along the marked trail.  Find the latest gondola opening hours here.

Following the marked trail, you can also walk up to BASE from Ruka Village and Valley.
